My 2010 New Years

How I spent my 2010 New Years…

This year, we decided to spend this always-pressure-filled holiday holed up in our mountain cabin with a group of 12 friends. That meant pajamas, whoo-hoo! And lots of champagne, of course. And silly string. And a couple games of Mafia, Celebrity, & Pictionary-Telephone (our new favorite). Most comfortable New Years celebration ever.

I decorated a little bit, and everyone contributed to the food. We had smoked gouda fondue, an amazing turkey chili from Nina Manni, spanokopita from Tania Gonzales, red bell pepper crudites from Christina Cimellaro, divine 7-layer dip from Tara & Dave Matos… and some very sad cupcakes that I attempted to bake at high altitude. I am not any good at baking when I’m at sea level, so you can just imagine how they came out. And no, I will not be posting a picture of them, they’re too pathetic! However, the culinary highlight of the evening came around 3am, when I busted out the leftover cream cheese frosting, and paired it up with some graham crackers for dipping—heaven! YUM.

See below for party highlights…

I copied this idea from an old issue of Martha Stewart Magazine—you take silver or gold number stickers and individually number your champagne glasses, like a New Year’s countdown. It not only looks cute, but helps you keep track of your glass all night (very helpful on New Years!)!! Now if only I could locate numbers 3 and 6… they’ve gone missing since that night….
