The Easter Bunny

‘Tis the season for adorable bunnies…I made these sweet bunnies for Easter brunch back in 2003 (love my uber-cheap, so-not-a-good-color melamine plates!).  Of course, I’ve lost the recipe, but I imagine it could be recreated with any sweet bread recipe, like the one for Portuguese Easter Bread found here, and any basic icing recipe for the buttons and whiskers.  For a holiday brunch, you could pair them with a bunny’s favorite food, carrots!  Click the picture below for a link to a great recipe for glazed carrots from Leslie Sarna.  What are you planning to make for the spring holidays?

Although you should never give a bunny or chick as an Easter gift (too many are abandoned once the seasonal excitement wears off), if you want to ADOPT a bunny, (or just look at some really cute pictures of them!), check out the website for Best Friends Animal Society.  Here’s a picture of my little sis with a friendly bunny, circa 1986, to start you off on the right foot:

I’m heading to the mountains for the weekend with my in-laws and nephews—I’m going to attempt some egg dying with them, and it’s been years since I ventured into that territory, so wish me luck!xoxo
