Doing Some Good...
If you’ve suddenly received a tax refund, or a surprise inheritence, or found a dollar on your walk home, I’ve got three great ways to put that moola to good use:
#1. A friend of mine, Lauren, developed leukemia at age 17. Here’s her story and her attempt to run a half marathon to raise money to combat the disease that almost took her life:http://pages.teamintraining.org/nyc/hampton11/lspagnolet
My strong & dedicated little sister ran the Honolulu marathon with this same organization (Team in Training) when she was only 18, and I love this picture of her celebrating as she crosses the finish line
#2. A new Twitter friend of mine, Geno of Geno’s World, does a lot of good raising money to combat blindness, through the Carroll Center. I’ve donated a signed Entourage script to help him meet his goal! You can bid on it here through the end of the weekend:http://bit.ly/lVMd25
#3. My friend Kristoffer Polaha (of ‘Life Unexpected’) has a talented relative who is trying to raise money through the artist-sponsorship website Kickstarter to support him while he writes a novel. Kris says “If he reaches his goal by the end of the month he’ll be able to re-write one of the most heart breakingly beautiful novels I’ve ever read, Gaines Green.” This is a very cool & innovative program to help emerging artists, so even if you can’t donate, definitely check out the site!http://kck.st/iAIEibMore lovely living posts to come this week. xoxo
