A Birthday Wish...

Tomorrow is my birthday, and what I want most is for people to learn about and donate to my favorite charity, Best Friends. Best Friends is an animal rescue organization that does amazing work helping to find homes for abandoned animals all across the country, and animal rescue-work during natural disasters. They also have the largest no-kill shelter in America, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. A few years ago I was able to go out to Utah and spend a few days volunteering and visiting with the dogs and horses, and it was a humbling and inspiring experience. The work done here by the volunteers and animal-lovers is difficult and rewarding. Best Friends also took on the huge task of rehabilitating the dogs rescued from the Michael Vick dog-fighting scandal, and the National Geographic Channel even created a show about this, called Dog Town.
